Welcome to the 2007-2008 Raise Your Vote Voter Registration Campaign being sponsored by Student Center for Volunteerism!Announcements about Event:From now until the Absentee Ballot Application Deadline on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, you will need to mail your request directly to your local Board of Elections. If you need the form, you can pick it up at the Braddock House. All Absentee Ballots after voted, need to be mailed directly back to your county's Board of Elections. We will not accept any Absentee Ballots at the office to be sent back. The last day to request an absentee ballot Application by mail or in person is Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. If you are an Allegany County resident, you can fax your application until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. After Tuesday, October 28, 2008 through Election Day (November 4, 2008), if you would like to request an absentee ballot you must request it in person at your local Board of Elections. Please join us on Election Day, Tuesday November 4, 2008 as we have an Election Night Viewing Party for the results. We will have refreshments at the event. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. and run until 12 a.m. or later depending on the results. The event will be held in the Lane University Center A.R.M.A.H. During the event, you can watch the results, join in the World Cafe discussion on issues that are important to you and more. You are free to come and go as you please. Please wear comfy clothes and bring in something that you can use to watch the results (e.g. a bean bag chair or sleeping bag, etc.) If you have received your absentee ballot, please don't forget to vote and return your ballot by mail by Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Event History:This year, 2007-2008, is the second year for the Raise Your Vote Voter Registration Campaign. The first Raise Your Vote Voter Registration Campaign was conducted in 2006. This campaign was sponsored by the Student Center for Volunteerism and the Brothers of Iota Phi Theta Inc. Our first Voter Registration campaign was done with the Rock the Vote campaign. Our third campaign pays respect to our original efforts by including the photo galleries from the original event.Our event is sponsored by the Student Center for Volunteerism and the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement which is located at the Braddock House.The original campaign was started by Megan Lahman. She started working on this campaign in 2003. Her original goal was to bring Rock the Vote to campus to help raise awareness of voting and the issues in the country. This campaign was done in conjunction with one of the groups from Kathy Powell's Citizen Leader class.
